Students 'Make their Mark'.

The UKYP provides opportunities for 11-18 year olds to use their voice in a creative way to bring about social change. It is made up of 300 MYP who are elected by their peers in youth elections throughout the UK and any young person 11-18 can stand for election or vote. Once elected, the MYP organise events and projects, run campaigns and influence decision makers on the issues which matter most to young people. Non - Uniform Day on Friday

"Revamp the ramps" is a fundraising group organized to raise funds to replace the existing skate park at the coronation boating lake, Helston. The ramps have had years of use and enjoyment for kids of all ages, it is now time for them to be demolished in early 2019 and a new set installed. So far raised £2.000 of the £6.000 funding shortfall has been raised through community events including the skate competition day in August where lots of children were seen having a great time. For students in Years 7 -12, the Autumn Term commences on Thursday 6th September at 8.30am. Students should go to their tutor rooms for the start of Tutorial at 8:40am.  A list of rooms will be at all entrances if anyone needs a reminder. GCSE results

Students at Helston Community College had much to celebrate on receiving their GCSE results this morning. This year, the vast majority of GCSEs were the new 9-1 grade qualifications, and students rose to the challenge. In English Language, 75% of students achieved a 'Standard Pass' at Grade 4, and seven students scored the top grade of a 9. In English Literature, 73% of students achieved a 'Standard Pass'. Overall, when considering both of these English qualifications together, the figure rises to 82%. Post 16 Examination Results

Year 13 students from Helston Community College celebrated receiving their A-level and BTEC/OCR National results today. We were particularly delighted with the number of students who excelled in the new, tougher 'Applied' subjects, with a large number of Distinction* grades awarded. Our Year 13 students are moving on to a diverse range of higher education courses, employment, further vocational training and apprenticeships.
