Help and support Mr Milliner please! Mr Milliner and his partner have been lucky enough to be picked for The Packet 'Win a Wedding' competition and are over the moon at the opportunity. The competition starts on Wednesday 22nd April and will be going on for 6 weeks and the couple that collects the most coupons from The Packet newspaper will win the wedding. HCC student swims to success

Avid swimmer Lily Parsons Year 9 has recently taken part in the British Swimming Championships at the London Aquatic Centre. Lily was the only female competitor from Cornwall, after qualifying to compete in the Championships. She represented Plymouth Leander, where she trains twice a week, in addition to training at the Truro Swimming Club. Lily has also been offered a scholarship with Plymouth Leander but has decided she would rather stay at HCC. She took part in the 100m and 200m Butterfly events and achieved personal best times in both and qualified for the final in the 100m fly.  Speaking...

Mayoress unveils artwork produced by Post 16 student

On Saturday there was an unveiling of a large art piece in Porthleven. The piece is entitled "Porthleven 2015" a tribute to Peter Lanyon. The Mayoress of Porthleven came an officially unveiled the work by Izzy Cude Yr 13 BTEC Level 3 Art & Design. The piece will be on display at The Gue on the side of "The Sea Drift" restaurant Porthleven all summer. There was a reception then held in Sea Drift to celebrate the opening. The work has a plaque saying what, who and where Izzy is studying. The Mayor is hoping this will be the start...

HCC win U19 Cornwall Challenge Netball Cup

Helston Community College attended the U19 Cornwall Challenge Netball Cup at Newquay Tretherras on Wednesday 18th March. Helston won all their games against Newquay Treviglas, Cornwall College, Penwith College, Newquay Tretherras, Truro College and Wadebridge resulting in them being crowned Champions of the Cup. Helston Youth Centre Dance Group Win Trophies at Plymouth Dance Competition

On Saturday 14th March 15 dancers representing Helston Youth Centre travelled to Plymouth to compete in the Dance Machine annual dance competition at the Guildhall in Plymouth. All the dancers are from Helston Community College years 7 to 11. The Senior Duo danced first; Maea Morgan, Snow White, and Jessica Marie Woods, the Evil Queen performed a well crafted dance exploring the relationship between the two characters resulting in Snow White taking a bite of the apple and falling in to a deep sleep. Helston Community College Under 16 Mixed Gymnastics Team Win the National Finals!

On Friday 13th March Matthew Heaney, Shannon Standing, Maea Morgan, Libby Rescorla and Jessica Marie Woods (Travelling Reserve) travelled to Stoke on Trent to compete in the National Finals of the Under 16 Mixed gymnastics competition. The gymnasts had to compete a vault, a floor routine and a group synchronized floor routine against teams from across the country. Matthew Heaney was the team's highest scorer on vault with 14.900 placing him second and with the second highest floor score of 13.866 he then came second in the whole competition for boys.
