Year 11 Celebration Evening

On 24th June Year 11 students at Helston Community College celebrated their achievements at the annual Celebration Evening. A large number of students were presented with subject prizes and special trophies by Head Teacher Mrs D Bryant and our Chair of Governors, Mr Chris Webb. The evening culminated with the recognition of seven students who have not missed a single day of education in the last five years of College. Celebration Evening

Tuesday 30th June 2015

On 18th June Year 13 students at Helston Community College celebrated their achievements at the annual Celebration Evening. All students who have completed their Post 16 studies were presented with an updated Record of Achievement by Mrs Donna Bryant and subject prizes were awarded  for those students who had made significant progress in their studies over the two years.  A range of overall achievement prizes were presented to students by guest speaker Mrs Jane Black, Head of Learning and Achievement at Cornwall Council. Success for U13 Cricket team

The U13 team made it through to a cup semi final after a thrilling last ball victory over Truro school. Truro made 124 runs in their 20 overs the highlight probably being 2 excellent catches by Nathan Wilkinson! In reply Jacob Brand made 50 to anchor the innings and in a very exciting final over Harry Hounson hit the winnings 2 runs off the last ball of the match. Another amazing team effort well done!...

HCC Fashion Academy work with Fashion Tutor at Falmouth University

The HCC Fashion Academy have been working with Claire Barker-Phillips, Fashion Tutor at Falmouth University, on an exciting design competition inspired by one of the current graduate collections. The students were asked to design and make original garments out of only square pieces of fabric over four weeks. 15 students took part and the final designs were shown off at Falmouth University on a trip there this week, where the girls got the opportunity to look at and even try on some of the graduates garments. Proposed New School Build

To clarify the situation in the light of recent items in the local press: there is no delay envisaged for the project which will begin in the programme window 2015-2016 as per the original announcement. The site visit has happened and we will receive more detail of exactly what work will be done and when at some point in the Autumn. Derek Thomas will continue to ensure that the College is kept in the forefront with ministers. Please do not be alarmed by West Briton headline.
