Sports Award Evening

Congratulations to all the winners at this year’s Sports Awards Evening.  Prizes were awarded to students for elite performance as well as individual talent in Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Volleyball and Football. At the end of the evening special cups were given out, including the Dr McGovern Award – Aspiration through Sport  which was awarded to Eleanor Harding for her dedication to Rugby and Liam Tanner was the winner of the Ian Rogers Cup –Outstanding Commitment  (mainly football, rugby, athletics and cricket).  At the end of the evening Dr McGovern was presented a collage of Sporting Achievements from the PE Staff....

Exciting next stage for student's dancing career

Year 8 Student to join the Exeter Youth Dance Academy (YDA) Maea Morgan is a year 8 student who has recently auditioned for the Exeter Centre for Advanced Dance Training. Over 100 young dancers auditioned for a very few places and Maea has been successfully offered a place starting in September. The panel were 'really impressed with the standard' of her dancing.  The YDA is one of nine Centres for Advanced Training (CAT) across the country. These are a consortium of dance organisations that provide 10-18 year olds with exceptional potential in dance, with access to the best available teaching...

Year 11 Presentation Evening

Students, parents and local dignitaries, including Commander Steven Jose,  RNAS Culdrose, turned out in force for the annual Year 11 Presentation Evening. Following the subject prizes and special awards, Head Boy James Hosking and Head Girl Rosa Higgs, gave their address and presented the Headteacher Dr P J McGovern with a gift on behalf of the student body for services to the students of Helston....

New Head Boy and Head Girl announced

Monday 14th July 2014

On Wednesday last week, ten students were interviewed by Dr McGovern, Mrs Bryant and Chair of Governors Mr Vallender for the position of Head Girl and Head Boy. It was an incredibly difficult task for the panel to make the final decision.  After much deliberation the panel decided that Francesca Wells would be the new Head Girl with Anna as the Deputy Head Girl, along with Blake Brown as Head Boy and Rowan Clarke as the Deputy Head Boy.  The senior team will consist of Alanah Bloor, Polly Morris, Hollie Nolan, Emily Thornhill, Tom Crawley and Miles Tolchard.      ...

Cornwall School's Sailing Competition

Year 9 students Lily Medlicott and Amy George have recently taken part in the Cornwall School’s Sailing Competition. The girls competed against eight other teams in their class (mirror), and with conditions challenging (wind force 5/6 moderate to rough) the girls did exceedingly well coming away with bronze. Well done girls on this fantastic achievement....
