The Chairman of the British Schools Gymnastics Association, Lieutenant Jamie Weller MSc BEng (Hons) GCGI Royal Navy and former student at Helston Community College, wrote a letter of congratulations and said:
"The gymnasts from Helston Community College have done exceptionally well to represent the South West region at the National Finals, and to achieve these placings is an amazing outcome; I am sure it is a proud moment for you, your staff and all of your pupils at Helston Community College.
I wanted to make you aware that your school also contributed to the South West region being ranked 1st in the Under 13 Mixed and 1st in the Under 16 Girls category overall.
The gymnasts performed extremely well, which is reflective of the hard work and dedication that has resulted in such a successful outcome. The gymnasts also demonstrated an exceptional level of teamwork, and were inspirational to other teams at the event.
As a former Helston CC student and gymnast, I am delighted to still see the school excel in the sport. I would like to wish you all the best for the future and hope to see your school challenge for a national placing at next year's British Schools Gymnastics competitions.
May I congratulate you and the gymnasts personally, and on behalf of the British Schools Gymnastics Association. Please also pass my congratulations and thanks to the staff who accompanied the gymnasts on the day; their professionalism and commitment to the gymnasts was exceptional."
