Rugby match success for current Post 16 team

On Wednesday 23rd April Helston Community College played host to a rugby match between its ‘old boys’ who toured South Africa in 2010 and the current College 6th Form side. The match was designated as an adult game of rugby and as such only students who were 17 years old and above could take part. The occasion was marked by extremely physical and competitive play with the old boys using their experience and power to take an early lead. Post 16 student - Number 1 goalkeeper for the Cornwall U18s football team

Post 16 student James Wignell who currently plays for Helston Athletic 1st team was selected as the Number 1 goalkeeper for the Cornwall U18s football team at the start of the season and he has played eight official games. Previously, he has been the goalkeeper for the Cornwall U16’s team. HCC Runners excel at Cross Country Run

Helston Community College students recently took part in the Coose Trannack Cross Country. Runners came from 60 schools and running clubs all over West Cornwall. They were given the task of running a 3,600 metre course up steep inclines. HCC did extremely well with the Under 15 winners being Katie Hughes and Tom Slattery with fellow pupil Scarlett Buck gaining the Bronze....

Success for College Gymnasts

On Sunday 16th March the Helston College Gymnastics Team travelled to Taunton for the Regional Championship. It was a busy day with some high quality gymnastics. The Under 19s girls team consisted of Libby Rescorla, Dana Wheat, Kea Wheat Jessica Marie Woods and Tiegan Wheat. They competed against 7 other strong teams. High scorers were Libby Rescorla with 13.80 on floor and 14.00 on vault and Dana Wheat with 12.45 on floor and 14.10 on vault. Senior choir win shield at Music Festival

Helston Community College Senior choir were triumphant after winning the County Music Festival.  The choir lead by Mr Parker sang two songs, Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap and the 1st Movement of Vivaldi's Gloria. Huge congratulations goes to them all for this fantastic achievement.        ...

HCC students excel at County ASA Championships

Monday 17th March 2014

                      Five Year 8 students from HCC recently took part in the County ASA Swimming Championships competition  and did exceedingly well. Lily Parsons came 1st in the Under 12’s Girls and was awarded the Under 16’s Champion at 100m, 200m and 50m fly stroke, whilst Aaron Stevens was in the top six Under 12’s Boys. Jacob Gibbons came 2nd in the Under 13’s competition with Lyndon Beddow following in 8th position and Steven Lewis finishing 10th.  Congratulation to all five students on this great achievement....

Girls Rugby team head to Regional Final

Recently our Year 9 and 10 Girl Rugby team took part in the Cornwall RFU National Girls Competition.  They beat Mounts Bay and St Ives to get into the final against Penair where they drew 0-0. Both Helston Community College and Penair go through to the regional finals in Burnham on Sea on 25th March. Well done girls and good luck in the next stage of the Competition...
