International Musicians Seminar Oboe Quintet Performance

The College is pleased to announce that we have been offered some free places for students, through CAST (Cornubian Arts & Science Trust), to attend the International Musicians Seminar Oboe Quintet Performance. The International Musicians Seminar, renowned for its seminars and masterclasses at Prussia Cove, and known throughout West Cornwall for its annual concert series, is embarking on a new tour across Cornwall. Invitation to play with the RAF Regiment Band

Last week, Clive King and Sam Parker from our Music Department, took a group of budding young musicians to see the RAF Regiment band, who were performing at Penwith College. The band were touring for ten days and our students were very fortunate to be invited to see them. The Concert began with a piece called 'Brooklyn', which was a Funky Tuba feature, and then went on to feature a woodwind Quintet. 'Joining Forces' Art Project

We are fortunate to have been selected to be part of the 'Joining Forces' art project, which is being organised by Helston Museum.  The artist, Tony Minnion, who lives and works in Cornwall, will be coming into the College on Thursday 26th January and 2nd February (after college), to work with students, to produce a piece of artwork. The work the students produce, will then be exhibited as part of a large exhibition around military life, in Helston Museum.   Any student with a military connection, can take part in this wonderful opportunity and bring a friend as well.   If your child...

Christmas Jumper Day - This Thursday

The College has held a 'Christmas Jumper Day' for the last two years. This year it will be on the last day of term - Thursday 15th December. Students should be in full College uniform, but they can wear their best Christmas jumper instead of their blazer. The event is to raise money for 'Save the Children' and we would ask those taking part to donate a £1.00 towards this charity. Update: We are delighted to inform Parents and Carers that the day raised nearly £400. Thank you to all involved....

MKC Heroes - Serve High Tea

Friday 9th December 2016

Children from The Military Kids Club (MKC) of Helston Community College were on their best behaviour as they served up a 'High Tea' to Naval Fire Fighters at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose. Every year the MKC formerly known as HMS Heroes, like to do something around Christmas, in a way of a thank you to the Armed Forces. In previous years they have made fudge, which was then packed up inside Christmas Care Packages, and sent to deployed Culdrose Units around the Globe.
