HCC U14 Hockey team 2nd best team in County

On Thursday 5th November, Helston U14 Hockey team travelled to Truro High School to compete in the County hockey tournament which consisted of 15 teams across the County. Despite the horrific weather conditions, Helston had a bright start and won their first two matches convincingly, scoring several goals and keeping a clean sheet. The third game versus Truro High school tested the team and the high school won 2-1, however this did not stop Helston going on to win their final game 4-0 and qualifying for the semi finals held at Penair School. Natural pigment Planet Earth murals

On Tuesday 3rd of November the Art department was treated to art workshops from two contemporary artists. Bob Walley and Jackie Yeoman are both artists, lecturers and teachers who have been working closely with Falmouth Art Gallery during their current  ‘Soil’ exhibition. Jackie has a number of pieces in the exhibition and Bob has carried out lots of workshops in the gallery. WOW... What an amazing day at CH Hunter Trial! The first time I have jumped Tulia over cross country jumps and, well, let's just say she has a lot of scope! Tulia is loyal and willing! We did the 2'6 (which was the biggest I have probably jumped her so far) and the round felt dreadful, but then I went and got first which I was completely over the moon about and really wasn't expecting, bearing in mind there was 60 people in the class. Dyslexia awareness week 2015

The theme for the week was 'Making sense of dyslexia' Dyslexia is a learning difference that can have a big impact on how a student learns. As it can affect, reading, writing, spelling and organisation. Our Year 7 students were set a challenge to create an acrostic poem using the word Dyslexia to send a positive message about dyslexia and how it is supported at the college.
