Raising funds for The Fishermen’s Mission Charity

Year 9 student Lauren Taylor helped draw attention to The Fishermen's Mission last Saturday 30th April. Lauren and Ms Marsden with her son Charlie took turns, along with members of the public, to dress up in clothes from the shop and sit in the window. Lots of people walking past were a little surprised by the live models! Julian Waring who manages the shop, and does a huge amount of outreach for the Mission, said "Thank you all, a great day and it helps raise awareness for our small charity." Young Citizen of the Year 2016

Tegenn Holloway, in Year 9, has been chosen to be Helston's Young Citizen of the Year 2016 by the Mayor of Helston, Councillor Mike Thomas. Tegenn was presented with the award at Helston Town Council's Full Council meeting in the Guildhall on Thursday 21st April for her work in helping to raise money for young people, and for her initiative in creating and managing the Year 9 charity group – Helston Charity Champions. Helston College Gymnastics Team achieve 3rd place at the National Finals!

On Thursday 10th March the Helston College Under 14 Girls Gymnastics Team travelled to Stoke on Trent to compete in the National Finals of the British Schools Gymnastic Milano Teams. It was a very tough competition with 22 teams from across the UK all of an extremely high standard. Maea Morgan, Shannon Standing and Phoebe Jenkin, made up the Helston College Team. Puma Southern Taekwondo Championship

On Sunday the 13th of March, I travelled up to Plymouth to compete in the PUMA Southern Taekwondo Championships. I was expecting to be in the under 14’s category (being 13), after some confusion I ultimately ended up being placed in the junior heavyweight division, with lads who were: older, taller and heavier than me.
