Interact Beach Clean

1st February 2018

Earlier in the week the Interact members braved the weather and went to Gunwalloe to help clear the beach of man-made waste. This self-organised beach clean was a huge success with eight bags of litter collected, and approximately 1000 pieces of plastic collected in just an hour.

Today plastic is a huge issue as it's polluting the oceans, causing marine wildlife to suffer and ocean acidification. The club members collectively decided that as we live so close to the coast we should take action and make a small contribution.
Beach cleans take as little as two minutes, we all had great fun while doing it so thoroughly recommend having a plastic treasure hunt on the beach while at the same time helping to save our coastlines. INTERACT plan to arrange future beach cleans - when the weather improves!

We would like to say our thanks to Laura, our local National Trust ranger, David Roberts, our beach specialist who pointed out some amazing wildlife, Ms Jackson for her support and Mr and Mrs Tatham for their assistance in organising the event.

The INTERACT Club meets every Thursday in the College's conference room, new members are more than welcome!
