Post 16 Examination Results

16th August 2018

Year 13 students from Helston Community College celebrated receiving their A-level and BTEC/OCR National results today. We were particularly delighted with the number of students who excelled in the new, tougher 'Applied' subjects, with a large number of Distinction* grades awarded.

Our Year 13 students are moving on to a diverse range of higher education courses, employment, further vocational training and apprenticeships. This year sees the vast majority of the students bound for higher education, with 40% destined for highly regarded Russell Group universities. We are very proud to see students progressing into a wide and varied range of fields. For example, Ross Sutherland (A*, A, A) who has the option to study Biochemistry at Exeter University, Beth Hole (A*, A, A) will be studying Stage Management at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Carmen Muldoon (A, A, C) will be studying Nutrition and Food Science at Reading University. Will Savage achieved three Distinction* grades and has a place to study sportswear design, and Victoria Philips achieved an A grade at A level in addition to obtaining three Distinction* grades and will be studying to become a prestigious Norland nanny.

The Headteacher, Mr Wayne Jenkins said, "We are thrilled that our students have been rewarded for their hard work and perseverance. It is a pleasure to celebrate with them as they secure the results they require to progress in their chosen field of study or career. I would like to wish all our students the best of luck in the future."
