Year 12 Engineering Students visit world leading Engineering Company….in

1st November 2017

STS Trolleys design and make the worlds best manual heavy handling trolleys. They build trolleys for lifting rolls of sheet metal or lifting drum mixers for chemicals, medicines or paint. The company has expanded enormously since our last visit back in 2011 and is therefore always actively seeking quality apprentices. Dan Cook, a former Engineering and Product Design student from Helston is now one of their 5 Star Welders, and recently gained a full-time contract after passing his apprenticeship with flying colours. Our Year 12 Engineering students were given a comprehensive tour of the site, including their state of the art Computer Aided Design studio and the brand new manufacturing facility. The students were very impressed with the quality of the products being made, and the passion of the CEO towards Engineering and his company's future. The company is building links to Amazon and Google as they move towards higher levels of automation for stock and despatch which increases their need for trolleys from STS, based in Leedstown, Cornwall!

The visit ended rather appropriately with the students drooling over the CEO's Tesla electric supercar.... The future of Automotive Engineering. All in all a very good visit to a very successful Cornish Engineering firm.
