GCSE Success for Helston!

24th August 2023

GCSE Success for Helston!

Building on our wonderful A Level results, our GCSE students have done brilliantly. Over 40% of students gained one or more of the top grades with our top ten students achieving 50 grade 9s between them!

We are incredibly proud of what our Year 11 students have achieved they worked very hard and showed a huge amount of resilience over what was a very long exam season. Not only are we proud of all the high achievers, but we are equally pleased for all those who worked incredibly hard to pass their courses. It was great to see so many smiles and tears of joy as students opened their results envelopes.

Particular congratulations go to the following students for their outstanding achievements at the very top of the grade range: Alice Game, Lily Healy, Beth Riding, Cassie Pryor, Bethany Fooks, Susannah Monhemius, Darcey Laurence, Toby Adair, Alex Parry, Fred Dear, Darcie Ford, Sebastian Round, Olivia George, Jacob Jewell, Lauryn Moulding, Isabelle Goldsworthy, Georgia Collins, Kenan McDermott, Ned Petre and Jessica Worden.

We would like to thank all the staff and parents for their amazing support for the students throughout the year.

Best in the Country!

A special mention to Susannah Monhemius who scored the highest mark in England in her Engineering course. Jill Duffy, the Chief Executive of the OCR Exam Board, wrote to the College to pass on her congratulations to Susannah for being the ‘highest performer in 2023’, and to wish her success in the future.

Laura Hocking, Head of Enterprise and Technology at the College, said, “This is a remarkable achievement. Susannah has been a model student and has clearly excelled on the course. We are incredibly proud of her.”

Susannah is joining Helston’s fabulous sixth form to continue her studies.

9 Nines for Alice!

Congratulations to Alice Game who achieved nine Grade 9s in her GCSEs. This is an incredible feat only achieved by 0.1% of the students across England! Alice has been an exceptional student during her time at Helston and is a talented artist and musician as well as being an all-round star. Alice is staying on at Helston to study A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Music.
