16 to 19 Catch-up (tuition fund) statement

Helston Community College – Post 16 Funding Statement

The 16 to 19 Tuition Fund is a one-off fund which is ring fenced for schools, colleges and all other 16 to 19 providers to support small group tuition for 16 to 19 students in English, Maths, and other courses where learning has been disrupted.  Although the actual tuition does not need to be for GCSE English or Maths, the priority support will be for those students who had not achieved grade 4 or above in at least one of these two GCSE subjects by age 16.  All supported students must be on a 16 to 19 study programme and have had their learning disrupted in 2019 to 2020 academic year from the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Helston Community College will prioritise these funds to support 1:1 tuition and small group tuition to any student who did not achieve a grade 4 in GCSE English or Maths.  This tuition will be in addition to students’ normal timetabled GCSE English and Maths lessons and will be in groups of no more than 5. This is in line with the Government guidance for the 16-19 Tuition Fund.
