Examination Results
We are very proud of our recent results, with students receiving excellent grades on both their A-level and BTEC courses. In the summer of 2019, 100% of students passed their A-level courses, and the validated progress rates from 2018 for our BTEC courses are in the highest band in the country. Although assessment systems have changed in the last two year, results improved again in 2020 and 2021 saw the College's best results ever. This means that all students secured the grades they need for the next step of their education or training.
Destinations
Our Year 13 students regularly move on to a diverse range of higher education courses, employment, further vocational training and apprenticeships. This year, students progressed on to study at many universities, including the Universities of Oxford, Loughborough, Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter, Birmingham, Brighton, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Reading, King’s College London, the Royal Agricultural College, and the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, to name a few. They secured places on a variety of courses, including Medicine, Experimental Psychology, Aeronautical Engineering, Accountancy, Geology, Illustration, Photography, Chiropractic Studies, Journalism, Architecture, and Sport and Exercise Science.
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are increasing in popularity, and students have secured excellent placements at destinations such as Goonhilly, SERCO and Francis Clark accountants. We have an ever-growing network of potential future apprenticeship providers, and look forward to hosting our annual apprenticeship fair in January 2021.
Armed Forces
We have also been recognised by the Royal Navy for the support and guidance we offer prospective Armed Forces candidates, and are always delighted to hear back from previous students once they have completed their basic training.
Sporting & extra-curricular opportunities
Not only do we value the academic progress of students, the College endeavours to make Post 16 an enriching experience. The College offers supportive tutors, a varied enrichment programme and Sports Academies. Our football team are County champions, and our netball team were the County social league winners last year.
The Sixth Form students organise activities, entertainment and social events throughout the year strengthening our community. There is an active social committee and the annual Post 16 summer ball, organised by the students, is a real highlight of the year. The Sixth Form students also have the opportunity to take an active role within the life of the College with their involvement in the Performing Arts, Sports Clubs, Duke of Edinburgh, mentoring and coaching younger students and our new Community Award.
