17.03.23 non-Uniform Day and Kindness Month

16th March 2023

Kindness Month

This is just to remind you that we have two fundraising events taking place as part of our kindness focus this month:

Tomorrow, Friday 17 March, we will join in with Red Nose Day by holding a non-uniform day in College. A donation of £1 can be made via ParentPay. Please can I ask you to note our expectations about non-uniform below.

Friday 24 March, our wonderful Jazz Orchestra are holding a Spring Concert to raise funds for those affected by the earthquake disaster in Turkey and Syria. The Concert starts at 7.00pm. Tickets can be reserved by calling 07875223032. A licensed bar and pasties are available on the night.

As mentioned previously, we are also promoting and recognising kindness by issuing ‘Golden Tickets’ to students when we see or hear them being kind to others. This will lead to a prize draw just before the Easter holidays.

 Non-uniform Expectations

  • No additional jewellery other than that allowed in the College’s Uniform Policy i.e. one pair of small studs (one in each ear), one nose stud.
  • Our policy is that we prefer students not to wear makeup to College. If it is worn, it must be light and discrete. Nail varnish should not be worn to school and gel nails are not allowed.
  • Many students have ‘ripped’ jeans. If jeans are ripped, then the rips must be restricted to the lower leg i.e. not above the knee.
  • No ‘mini’ skirts, pyjamas (or other night wear), cropped tops, hot pants or heels. Comfortable and sensible clothing suitable for College.

Teachers’ Strikes

Thank you for your support during the strike days. Currently, there are no more strike days planned by the Unions, however, as there has been no resolution to the issues raised, future strikes may take place. We will inform you as and when we receive any updates.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Kind regards

Helston Community College.
