School Closure 18 February 2022

18th February 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

As you may be aware, the Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for parts of Cornwall tomorrow. This means that there is danger to life, with flying debris and damage to buildings and power lines expected, as well as disruption on the roads.  Although Helston lies just outside of this zone, we have students and staff who live in the red weather warning area and we are very concerned about the safety of everyone travelling to and from the College.  There is also the open nature of the College site to consider and our risk assessment suggests it would not be safe to open.

As a result, we have made the difficult decision to close the College tomorrow (Friday 18 February).

We are acutely aware of the challenges this presents and have not made this decision lightly.  Please support your child in accessing the remote online learning that we will be providing via Google Classroom.  There are some Tutorial Videos available on the Learning Portal which can be accessed via the College website.  Please do not worry if your child does not have access to a computer or the internet, or if your internet connection is adversely affected by Storm Eunice.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused, however the safety of our College community will always be our number one priority.

Kind regards

Wayne Jenkins
