Crazy Hat Day July 2021

12th July 2021

On Friday the 16th of July the College held a fundraising day in support of Megan Martin in Year 12. Her sister, Holly (currently at Mullion School), had a serious fall from her horse on April 12th 2021 and has been in Bristol ever since. She spent 2 of those months in an induced coma to reduce brain function and let her brain heal properly. She has only recently moved out of intensive care to a high dependency unit where she has 2 to 1 nursing as well as her own room.

They are now starting the phase of rehabilitation which is believed to take up to a year in Bristol and up to 6 years after that to get Holly back to how she was before the incident. The family are also having to adapt all of their home to make it accessible by wheelchair.

On Friday lots of students wore a hat, the crazier the better, alongside their normal uniform. We were delighted with the show of solidarity and community spirit from the students and in total the College community raised over £585. This will greatly help Holly’s recuperation when she finally returns home to Cornwall.

The College was especially grateful to a very large donation from a parent of a student in year, and we would like to say an extra thank you to that very generous member of the local community.
